That's a 5% difference which I'd call significant. I have a friend with 285/30-18 on 18x9.5" rims (SMZ/AVS rims) and he has no complaints whatsoever. : else 18x8 235/40R18 and 18x9.5 275/35R18 : Honestly go with the wider rim and get the 285 on the back. You will need as much traction as you can. : You can get the lower profile tires like a 285/30R18 and 245/38R18 and it may look better but you will have a stiffer sidewall which means less offline the traction and rougher ride. :
